Overview

Designed for travellers who wish to experience the authentic spirit of an ancient town in an environment that offers peace and tranquillity, this intimate and exclusive hotel on the waterfront has eight carefully designed rooms ranging from beautifully appointed doubles to a spacious family room with space for five people.

The building that now forms Alcanea dates from the Venetian period and was the office of the Greek revolutionary and statesman, Eleftherios Venizelos, for 24 years.

It was fully restored during spring 2011 with great sensitivity to the preservation and conservation of the building's architectural heritage.

The enchanting complex of terraces and patios, the well-preserved hand-carved stone façades, the colourful ceramics, the elaborate woodwork and decorative elements all maintain a perfect balance between tradition and modern comforts.

Location

Alcanea Boutique Hotel is magnificently positioned on the waterfront of the Old Port, right next to the Nautical Museum by the entrance to the Venetian Fortress of Firkas.

It offers spectacular views of the Egyptian Lighthouse, the Venetian Port, the Old Town of Chania and the Venetian Fortress. The closest beach, Nea Chora, is a ten-minute walk from the hotel.

The hotel is 17-km from Chania airport and 7-km from the port of Souda.

It is easily accessible via air and boat.

Located on the first floor of the historical building, at the rear and looking onto the Lighthouse, this room offers a king size bed, a dressing table and a lounge area with a fireplace decorated with Arabic elements, (The occupation of Crete by the Saracens lasted from 823 until 961. The consequences of the arrival of the Arabic influence in Crete resulted in the alienation of Crete from the Byzantine Empire.) This room has a spacious bathroom with shower.

Standard Double (1‐2 Guests)

Superior Double with Balcocy (1‐2 Guests)

This room offers a king size bed, a dressing table, a lounge area and a bathroom with shower.This room can be connected with room V and accomodate up to 5 persons.

Superior Double with Terrace (second Floor) (1‐2 Guests)

A spacious room located on the first floor of the historical building with a balcony at the facade equipped with double glazed windows. The balcony offers a unique view of the Old Port and it is an ideal spot to relax and soak up the daily port life. This room provides a king size bed, a dressing table, a lounge area and a bathroom with shower.

Superior Double with Sea View (1‐4 Guests)

This room offers a king size bed, a dressing table, a lounge area and a bathroom with shower and can be connected with room V and accomodate up to 5 persons.
